The chestnuts of Lunigiana

There are about 30 thousand hectares of chestnut trees in Lunigiana spread on all the  municipalities, on a total 230 thousand hectares in Italy with Tuscany on the second place for extension in hectares.

The crucial point for chestnut production and pick up is situated between Pontremoli and Fivizzano.

The chestnut flour from Lunigiana is a DOP brand since 2006.

It’s possible to pick up chestnuts exclusively by hand, in the quantities established by the Consorzio Forestale Guinadi, once bought the ticket.
